Origin
It all began in Vilela.
In the parish of São João de Lourosa, in Viseu, there is a hamlet called Vilela. The name means “small town”. According to family memory, it was from here that a lineage set out for Brazil, carrying the name, the values and the bond with the land. Herdade Vilela is the way back: wines made in the country where the story began.
The Family
A lineage between Viseu, Braga and Minas Gerais.
According to the genealogical sources consulted, the Vilela family belongs to one of the oldest Luso-Brazilian lineages, rooted in the regions of Viseu and Braga. Members of the family reached Brazil in the 18th century and settled mainly in Minas Gerais.
